24 W hile it's always a nice practice to give thanks, it's especially relevant as we usher in the month of November. We are proud to partner with so many institutions that make Dallas the vibrant and thriving city it is — not to mention, an extremely generous and compassionate one. A perfect example is the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center, which hosts its megawatt Art for Advocacy fund-raiser Saturday, November 5. We're thrilled to be a part of this lively evening, with live and silent art auctions to benefit the DCAC and its serious com- mitment to work on behalf of children who have suffered the most severe cases of child abuse in Dallas County. Our sales and editorial teams toured the facility this summer, and it was a moving and enlightening experience. I encourage you to learn more about ways you can lend support. On the arts side of things, PaperCity is excited to announce our partnership with the Nasher Sculpture Center as media sponsor for the 2017 Nasher Prize. In its second year, the Nasher Prize furthers the un- derstanding of contemporary sculpture by honoring a living artist, and programming a year filled with international and local public events and discussions about sculpture. As the Nasher is one of the few centers in the world exclusively dedicated to contemporary sculpture, the award is significant for our city and beyond. Our hats are off to Nasher director Jeremy Strick and his wildly talented team on creating a concept that is already making a massive impact. We profile the 2017 Laureate, Pierre Huyghe, on page 74, and look forward to welcoming the French artist when he comes to Dallas to receive his prize this spring. When we teamed with Dunhill Partners and Dallas Design District last year for the inaugural Dallas PaperCity Design Awards, great changes were already underway for the evolving and expanding district, and the momentum has certainly continued. Late last month, Virgin Hotels broke ground on its new Dallas Design District hotel. Sir Richard Branson himself came to town for the momentous occasion. No doubt, the steady growth of the Dallas Design District adds an extra layer of excitement as we gear up for this month's Design Awards, with our awards ceremony and celebration taking place Thursday, November 3. The above is but a short list of the myriad brands and organizations we're thankful to partner with throughout the year — many of which you'll find highlighted throughout the pages of this issue. It's turning out to be a very happy fall. Briana Buxbaum Dallas Publisher briana@papercitymag.com letter publisher STEVEN VISNEAU/SISTERBROTHER MGMT.
