United Way's Leadership Society celebrated on September 27 with Leaders & Lyrics, a concert at The Rustic featuring Texas-based Blue Water Highway Band. More than 150 of the community's most engaged leaders attended the event, which also highlighted OneUp, United Way's fall digital campaign presented by AT&T and Deloitte. The online competition awarded – by popular vote – local social GroundFloor entrepreneurs with $100,000 in cash prizes PLUS the chance to earn an additional $100,000 of prize money at the YPO/GroundFloor Innovation Showcase in April 2017. United Way's GroundFloor, launched in 2013, brings critical resources to promising social ventures that address challenges in the areas of education, income and health. United Way of Metropolitan Dallas kicked oĊ  its 92nd annual community fundraising campaign on September 9 live on WFAA at AT&T Plaza in Victory Park – and a goal of raising a record $75 million with 2016-2017 Annual Campaign Chair and Chairman and CEO of Celanese Corporation, Mark Rohr. "Grow South, Grow Strong," a $1.1 million commitment by Celanese, is designed to build and sustain education-focused volunteer engagement in southern Dallas and bolster student success in the city's southern sector. Celanese, with Dallas Cowboys legend Darren Woodson, hosted 150+ golfers representing businesses across North Texas. One million dollars was raised for United Way! Tom Falk, CEO of Dallas-based Kimberly-Clark Corporation and his wife, Karen, made a $2 million gift: One million dollars to the Annual Campaign and $1 million to the United Way Foundation of Metropolitan Dallas. The announcement was made at the 'Second Tuesday' Tocqueville Society luncheon held in Chase Tower's Sky Lobby on September 13.
