OBSESSIONS. DECORATION. SALIENT FACTS. T he iconic Hotel Crescent Court is getting a $30 million new look — set to debut later this spring. The revamp follows the recent expansion and renovation of the surrounding development, The Crescent, led by John Goff and his Crescent Real Estate entity, which acquired the Hotel Crescent Court from Rosewood Hotels & Resorts last year. The Crescent has been an iconic piece of the cityscape since its Philip Johnson and John Burgee-designed neo-French classical buildings debuted in 1986. At the time, the Crescent had the largest cut-slate roof in the world; $6 million of ornamental cast and aluminum metal used as balconies, trellises, and railings; a façade with more Indiana limestone than the Empire State Building; and 10 different types of marble in the lobby areas. The stunning interiors were designed by the late Turkish designer Kalef Alaton, who also designed interiors for Hotel Bel-Air. The head- to-toe refurbishment has been tasked to Waldrop+Nichols, a Dallas-based hospitality design firm that beautifully renovated the historic Brown Palace Hotel in Colorado and created interiors for Omni Hotels and Resorts in Dallas, and Chicago. To come: a redesign of guest rooms and suites; refurbishment of public spaces and lobby, including the anticipated addition of a new lobby bar; and a remodel of the spa and fitness center.
