SUBURBIA, Redefined By LINDEN WILSON Pencil it into your datebook: Plano's new Legacy West development, which is revolutionizing the North Texas shopping scene, opens Friday, June 2. T he brainchild of Shops at Legacy developer Fehmi Karahan, this shopping, restaurant, and office compound is also the site of the North American headquarters for Toyota and FedEx, regional headquarters for JP Morgan Chase and Liberty Mutual, and home to a lavish new Renaissance hotel. New shoppers at arms length! Friday through Sunday, June 2 through 4, Legacy West will buzz with new doors: True Food Kitchen, West Elm, Shake Shack, Bonobos, and Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House, with Filson, Mesero, Planet Blue, Sprinkles, and dozens more not far behind. Here, the five places that make the top of our must-visit list. 1. From charcuterie and slabs of filet mignon to sweet bakery delicacies and $1,000 caviar, gourmet grocer Dean & DeLuca is a Mecca for the epicure, with a cult following. Debuting this summer, it's the first Texas location for the luxury market, which opened its flagship in New York in 1977. 3. Our obsession with super-fit indie darling Kate Hudson knows no bounds. The first Texas store of her athleisure label Fabletics opens later this summer, stocking fashionable and functional workout gear and accessories — yoga, running, et al. 4. With a successful flagship at The Plaza at Preston Center, menswear shop P o c k e t s o p e n s i t s second location in June, offering impeccably tailored suiting, casualwear, and travel accessories from luxe labels including Canali, Eton, Incotex, and Finamore. Dapper gents will also love Pockets' made-to-measure service for the best in sartorial customization. 5. Escaping to Europe this summer requires two things: a passport and ultra-chic luggage. We covet the cases from Tumi, particularly the rose-gold Extended Trip Packing Case ($1,395) and matching carry-on ($995). Founded in 1975 by former Peace Corp volunteer Charlie Clifford, Tumi opens its Legacy West store next month. 2. Ah, the thrill of zipping from zero to 60 in less than three seconds. We'll queue to test- drive an electrifying new Model S Tesla (which also boasts LED headlights and a medical-grade HEPA air-filtration system) at the Legacy West showroom, opening this month. IT COST BIG BUCKS, $3.2 BILLION. 86 Rendering of Legacy West Fabletics boutique Tumi's Extended Trip Packing Case Cheeses at Dean & DeLuca Model S Tesla Menswear at Pockets
