I have been buying some classical French Louis XVI and French transitional-style furnishings. They correspond to the highest level of France's glory and history, le siècle des lumières. I mix it with modern design: Memphis from the '80s and contemporary creations. It's so chic. Beautiful things always mix well with everything. It's all theater. Rooms should create a reaction, a feeling, and an atmosphere. I use drama mostly to emphasize a great sense of individuality and personality. Drama also illustrates grandeur and power — I do not enjoy safety. Risks are so much more rewarding.
