Creative directors Simply put, the artistic set is one of the most fascinating of the society cliques. And they happen to be rather charitable, too. Stacie & Christopher Martin at Christopher Martin Studio The Art Upstairs: Chairman Holly Krug at Art + Advocacy Chatting with Art + Advocacy chairmen Holly and Adam Krug was like picking the brains of two aspiring gallerists — but with a very benevolent spin. Said Holly of curating the annual art auction benefitting Dallas Children's Advocacy Center: "This crowd consists of new and existing collectors, so we wanted to provide a wide variety of art to meet everyone's desires." Given the mass of guests that attend, this event required a spacious venue — one with ample wall space for the work of more than 120 artists. The perfect place? The entire second floor at Fashion Industry Gallery, which was filled with biddable pieces, a sound booth for DJ Jennifer Miller and Paul Paredes, and artist Brian Gibb, who crafted one-of-a-kind prints on site. Seen: honorary chairmen Martha and Don Miller, DCAC president/CEO Lynn Davis, Caroline and Rob Belanger, Kim and Evan Wyly, Mike Thompson, and Kristen and Brian Twomey. Take event emcee Todd Fiscus, who arrived as Princess Beatrice arm-in-arm with Princess Eugenie, aka Ceron. The gents donned those famous royal-wedding fascinators and cursed their heels with every four-inchtall step. Then, there was Niven Morgan and Shelby Wagner who — portable treadmill and all — roleplayed as Tread Fitness trainers. Also in disguise: chairmen Kellie Cashon, Ann Mahowald, Deanna Mahowald, and Cindy Pierce; The Family Place executive director Paige Flink and husband Randy; and Matthew Simon and Keith Schumann, wearing a larger-thanlife Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge designed by Nicolas Villalba. Hence, Art Y'All: a country-style barbecue — think buffet of ribs and fried chicken, a southern band, plus boots and hats galore — that doubled as an art soirée on the sculpture-garden lawn at the Nasher. The featured artists were local creatives Gabriel Dawes, Rusty Scruby and Kana Harada, whose sculptural masterpieces went on display and on the live-auction block that night. Spotted: Auctioneer Steve Wrubel, trying to raise attendees' bidding paddles; and guests Lyssa and Darcy Young, Paula and Todd Minnis, and Megan and Brady Wood. To toast Wilson's project, the Dallas Architecture Forum compiled her architectural prints in a collectable folio and planned a party to celebrate its launch. One Arts Plaza owners Lucy and Henry Billingsley offered up the lobby of their modernist Arts District high rise for the pop-up exhibition, which boasted the original photographs of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the Wyly Theatre, the Kalita Humphreys Theater and more. Dallas Architecture Forum and its executive director Nate Eudaly handled the guest list, inviting the likes of Lucilo Peña, Jo and Andre Staffelbach, Daniele and Lorin Berland, Cindy Schwartz, and Robyn Siegel. Dallas-based contemporary artist Christopher Martin — who has art spaces in Beverly Hills and Aspen, too — flung open the doors of his new Design District studio with a Saturday-night cocktail party that drew an artful crowd. Who flocked to see Martin's new environs and his colorful canvases? Peggy and Dan Meyer, Jenny and Greg Galbraith, and Margot and Darrin Ruebel.
