[ RAP (retail ) If Versace's recent studded-leather and electric-colored collaboration with H&M proved a tad too much for your modest closet, the Marni collection launching at H&M this month might be just for you. Prints on prints, unusual shapes, colorblocking and a juxtaposition of textures in earthy boho-chic tones are only some of the hallmark traits of Italian fashion house Marni's quirky design aesthetic that founder and creative director Consuelo Castiglioni has tapped into for this sure-to-be-memorable collaboration. Expect clothing for women and men plus jewelry, shoes, bags and scarves. Hopefully you have your mass-hysteria shopping technique down pat after the Missoni for Target experience. Or, if you plan to shop online, I hope you have a quick finger, because these luxefor-less looks won't stay in store long. Launching Thursday, March 8, at H&M, NorthPark Center, 214.265.0015; hm.com/us. Kate Allen Stukenberg In case your visage needs freshening: This May, the beloved skincare line Kiehl's will debut a new NorthPark Center locale near Nordstrom on Level One. (Word is, the beauty brand's original spot at Highland Park Village will remain open, too.) The new location will stock all of Kiehl's musthave grooming essentials, including those lotions, kissable lip balms and anti-aging concoctions for ladies and gents. Click to kiehls.com … There's more news from the NorthPark beauty front: Make Up For Ever, the go-to maquillage brand for industry insiders and runway stars, is opening its first Texas boutique this June. Mere steps from the aforementioned Kiehl's spot, Make Up For Ever will pack more than 1,400 products — everything from high-definition-ready concealers and blushes to eyeshadow pigments in kaleidoscopic colors, even high-tech makeup tools, compacts and brushes. See it all at makeupforever.com … Just across the expressway, the Dallas-based brains behind philanthropic rain-boot brand Roma Provisions have opened their first store at The Shops at Park Lane. Dubbed Evol Society, the new boutique is all about charity, stocking its shelves with buy-one-give-one concept rain boots, Uganda-supporting jewelry by UgaBeads and refugee-made scarves by Worn. For more benevolent scoop, buzz 214.498.9765 … Style kudos to Dallas-based fashion designer and Project Runway alumna Shirin Askari for securing her spot in the Diet Pepsi Style Studio Fashion Program. During last month's New York Fashion Week, Askari presented her collection in a show curated by Barneys New York creative ambassador at large Simon Doonan and displayed her fashionable wares at Lincoln Center. Lauren Scheinin Louboutin: Two Decades of Design Christian Louboutin, the sultan of red soles, celebrates two decades of his namesake French fashion label by resurrecting 20 shoe styles in a special Capsule Collection. Inspired by the designer's love for art, architecture, the fine arts, design, French cabaret and exotic travel, the selection includes the Copt sandal inspired by a Coptic cross purchased from a local artisan in Egypt, and the feather-embellished La Pluminette suggesting the dancers in the cabarets of Paris. Adding to the glamour are six one-of-a-kind handbags. We adore the Artemis Paris purse with its dramatic shoulder piece, upon which sprawls a crystal cityscape of Paris' spectacular landmarks. Because I have a very strong connection to Dallas, and I feel that we have artists that people will respond well too. Dallas and Texas as a whole have such a strong tradition of supporting and collecting contemporary art. And it's a good excuse for me to visit my friends and get a good margarita and Mexican food. How will you be curating your booth at the Fair? Whose work will you bring that will resonate with Texas audiences and why? We will be bringing a selection of our gallery artists such as American painter John Newsom, who has a large Texas presence. American sculptor Michael Brown, German painter Marin Majic and … For the rest of the conversation, peruse papercitymag.com. Lay Baby, Lay KIMBERLY WYLIE COURTESY THE ARTIST The Texas art community remembers you vividly from your days at The Goss-Michael Foundation. How did you get to GMF originally, and what led you from there to your current role at Marc Straus Gallery? I'm from the South of England, where I grew up skateboarding and traveling around the UK and Europe. From an early age, I was involved in organizing small exhibitions for my friends. I lived for a while in Edinburgh, where I got to become very good friends with a lot of artists who went the Glasgow School of Libbie Masterson Art. I used to travel a lot to the U.S. for skateboarding, mostly to San Francisco and Los Angeles, but also had a strong connection to Texas as well. I met George Michael and Kenny Goss right as they were opening The GMF, and it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. After several years at The GMF, I needed a new challenge, and it was time for me to move on. I had been planning on moving to NY for a while but was just waiting for the right opportunity, and that's when I met Marc Straus. It's a dreamy place from owner and Dallas native Ailsa Hurley, one where European-cotton shirting, heavy-gauged cashmere rompers and smocked bloomers shine. This is Layette: the newest well-dressed sliver of The Shops at Highland Park, wherein infallibly styled parents source pedigreed wardrobe fillers for their well-dressed tots. Fronted by a rich cobaltblue door, the boutique stocks its immaculate racks and marble countertops with a hit list of wares in sizes infant to 6x. There are luxurious knits by Baby Bespoke by Kathryn Beach, simple separates from Petit Bateau, heirloom baptism gowns from designer Mela Wilson, Little Giraffe blankets and gifts, even those famous Danzo diaper bags for the most modish of mums. What's really obsessionworthy? Two of Layette's spot-on details: The shop offers in-house monogramming and basic alterations. The perfect time to pop in? Early on the evening of Thursday, March 1, when our in-house mom-to-be, Brooke Hortenstine, will serve guest of honor for Layette's grand-opening fête. 4214 Oak Lawn Ave.; layettedallas.com.
