Afternoon Delights Equest's Fashion Finery Fully booked was the only way to describe the members of the luncheon set as they BY CHRISTINA GEYER. PHOTOGRAPHY JEREMY BROWN, JAKE DEAN, DANA DRIENSKY, PATRICK PATEY, KRISTI AND SCOT REDMAN. LaunchAbility's Three Gents and a Lady Of all the power players in town, LaunchAbility tapped four of the city's brightest business, philanthropic and cultural influencers — Carl Sewell, Charlotte Anderson, Ted Skokos, and Todd Wagner — to serve as the spotlighted conversationalists during its Expanding Worlds Luncheon at the Hilton Anatole. The social contingent made for a most well-attended panel discussion: chairmen Kate Rose Marquez and Leigh Anne Haugh, honorary chairman Ebby Halliday, and guests including Cathy Packard, Lynn McBee, Caroline Rose Hunt, Carole and Scott Murray, and Ellen and Don Winspear. Instead, it was a high-fashion catwalk with luncheongoers in polished sheath dresses, pearls and stilettos that set the daytime trends. Chairmen Barbara Stuart and Melissa Macatee looked to the designer boutiques at Highland Park Village to supply their fundraising fashion show at Brook Hollow Golf Club, and the result was a parade of eye-catching looks from Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, Escada and more. The frontrow fête set: Robyn Conlon, Nancy Carter, Sarah Losinger, Lee Ann White, Lori Jones, Connie O'Neill, Lisa Troutt, Heather Washburne, and Elisa Summers. It was a sweet addition, though, that had guests talking: Each lavishly decorated banquet table was topped with a confection — think Gigi's Cupcakes, Nothing Bundt Cakes and fondant-swathed layer cakes. Perfect for sharing a family-style dessert, after listening to keynote speaker Cami Walker deliver her inspiring speech. This was certainly the case when renowned author and chef Molly Stevens jetted in from Vermont to launch her latest cookbook, All About Roasting: A New Approach to a Classic Art. During a luncheon at the Visiting Nurse Association's Patrick and Beatrice Haggerty Center, benefitting its Meals on Wheels program, Stevens took center stage, whipping up a culinary demo as well as a menu of her signature recipes. In the lunching crowd: chairman Helen Nixon, honorary chairmen Fanchon and Howard Hallam, VNA's Robert Carpenter, plus Lori Whitlow, and Bess and Ted Enloe. Louzeen Frost at Women on the Move Lindsay Schortman, Matt Schortman at Doing the Most Good Robert Carpenter, Caren Prothro, Nita Clark at VNA Gayle Sands at VNA Jan & Bob Pickens at Doing the Most Good The Salvation Army's Million-Dollar Day Filling the colossal Chantilly Ballroom at the Hilton Anatole is no easy feat — but The Salvation Army made it look easy as it packed the elegant space with more than 1,500 attendees for its annual Doing the Most Good Luncheon. We saw: chairman Mark Schortman, plus Charlotte Anderson, former First Lady Laura Bush, Jan Pickens, and the Salvation Army's Michele and Ward Matthews. This date had dual importance: It was Veteran's Day, so naturally they selected famous veteran Scott O'Grady as the afternoon's keynote speaker. Just prior to O'Grady's moving talk, there was a bit of momentous news to reveal. The luncheon — said to be among the largest in Dallas — raised more than $3 million.
