Dressing Restaurant Buzz in Diamonds Harry Winston famously stated, "If I could, I would attach the diamonds directly onto a woman's skin." Because, you see, Mr. Winston felt clothing merely distracted. We think he would be thrilled with the spectacular new 40-piece Harry Winston Ultimate Adornments collection inspired by the international art of dressing. The design of each piece mimics costume adornments worn throughout the centuries — from the delicacy of guipure lace and Point d'Alençon lace to the intricate embroidery of Indian caftans, the structured shapes of the Mongolian Deel and the form-fitting Chinese Qipao. More modern interpretations of fashion are reflected in pieces resembling the draped gowns of Old Hollywood and the selection sweetly inspired by Winston's own beloved wife, Edna. The design team culled through more than 100,000 designs from the archives of Winston's late chief designer, Ambaji V. Shinde, to come up with the entirely white-diamond line of showstoppers. Harry Winston Ultimate Adornments collection, from $37,000, at the Harry Winston boutique. Kate Allen Stukenberg Jason Wu's Plastic Shoes Hot off the heels of a sell-out fashion collection for megaretailer Target, emerging fashion designer Jason Wu has introduced another stellar collaboration, this time with Brazilian plastic-shoes brand Melissa Shoes. Melissa has previously created footwear with top-notch designers Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood, but Wu is the first American-based designer to collaborate with the shoemaker. Wu oomphs up two styles, the Ultra Girl ballet flat and the Lady Dragon peep-toe slingback — the former with a chic Wu palette and printed lace with sweet Miss Wu owl emblems and bow. From $135, at Neiman Marcus. Kate Allen Stukenberg Beauty Bits While beauty entrepreneur Kate Somerville gained fame purging the pores of Hollywood's brightest stars, she's also become the glow-to girl for women (and men) yearning for a believable faux tan. Her latest invention is Somerville360° Face ($45, at Neiman Marcus, Sephora), a set of 12 pre-moistened self-tanning pads that slide onto the tip of your finger. Specifically designed for the face, they exfoliate while giving you a gradual, streak-free tan. They even plump your pores with Peptide K8 and anti-agers to lessen the look of fine lines … Need a spring lift? Chanel's covetable nail lacquers, Le Vernis ($25 each, at Chanel counters) change as the weather does. April brings a flush of wild berries to your fingertips, May a pretty pinky pink (the universal shade of happiness) and, as climates warm in June, a pastel apricot hue. Laurann Claridge A rm thee with silverware: This month is made for feasting. For a sophisticated nightcap, skip to The Dram at 2918 Henderson Avenue. Housed in the former Wooden House digs, the new après-dinner cocktail bar from brothers Chris Donohoe and DJ Donohoe offers handcrafted sips with old-fashioned swank. Our favorite part? The Dram's extensive whiskey menu and its strict rock 'n roll-playlist policy. Sneak a peek at thedramdallas.com … Hats off to Joel Harloff: The man who fancied taste buds at restaurants such as Nana Grill and Mi Piaci has accepted a new post as exec chef at The Second Floor at Galleria Dallas. Ring 972.450.2978 for reservations or tap thesecondfloorrestaurant.com … The Landmark Restaurant at the Warwick Melrose Hotel, Dallas, has just reopened after a sizeable makeover, which includes new decor and a freshly spun menu. The aesthetic thought up by Duncan Miller Ullmann Design contains everything from new marble floors to a stunning 400-bottle wine vault — all modeled after the elegant interior of the hotel's Library Bar. As for the fare, exec chef Mike Pacheco has added an array of new bites, including fish tacos and pan-seared scallops with house-made chorizo. Reserve a table at landmarkrestodallas.com … Uptown gourmands with rather indulgent palates are raving about The Stand. Two retro Airstream trailers have been parked inside the former Rock 'N Taco digs at 2916 McKinney Avenue, and are dishing out concession-stand-worthy comfort food. What tops the menu? The "Mac Daddy Dog" — a jumbo, bacon-wrapped hotdog topped with fried mac 'n cheese, chilli and onion rings. May the mouthwatering commence at thestanddallas.com … For those who summer in Cabo, the name Manuel's Creative Cuisine may ring a culinary bell. The Los Cabos, Mexico– based restaurant crosses the border this month, opening its first U.S. location just off Oak Lawn Avenue at The Centrum building. The organic eatery features a menu of unexpected — dare we say, creative — dishes from exec chef Manuel Arredondo. Standouts include the creamy mushroom cappuccino soup and the lobster lasagna with caviar. Take a tasty trip at manuelsrestaurant.com.mx … Roll out your red-checkered blanket for Mixin' It Up on the Boulevard at Lee Park on May 6. The first annual al-fresco dining event will pair top chefs — think John Tesar and Tre Wilcox — with local farmers, wineries and DJs for the foodiest picnic of all. Purchase tickets at chefsforfarmers.com … Imagine the thrill among Preston Hollowites when Central Market opened its newest location last month at the corner of Preston Road and Royal Lane. The beloved grocery giant has packed all of its delectable offerings in the 30,000-squarefoot spot that formerly housed Borders Books — think more than 400 fromages, CM's signature build-your-own sandwich bar, a cafe that opens at 7 am, plus those scrumptious ready-made meals. Stock the pantry of your Strait Lane manse with goodies from 10720 Preston Road. Chandler Richards DVF Gap (Kids) We heart Diane von Furstenberg's new collection for girls at Gap Kids. Kate Allen Stukenberg Paper City is Music to Our Ears First there was PaperCity the exhibition; next, we inspired a couture gown. Now when we insert our earbuds and unlock our iPads, we have our own album playing. We're mad for Popular Talk by upand-coming indie pop sensation Paper City, which coincidentally (or not?) shares our moniker — and our sensibility. Smart, upbeat writing and clever turns of phrase are manifested in pitch-perfect lyrics backed by compelling chords, led by West Coast songwriter/vocalist Marisa Predisik.
