Filippo Tattoni-Marcozzi Photography Luc Coiffait Ryan McGinness is in the House: Brian Gibbs continues his innovative "Soliloquy" series, exhibiting one work by a carefully chosen artist at a time, on view in its own room, at The Pub- lic Trust. This fall's headliner, MoMA- -collected painter Ryan McGinness, is garnering buzz, appearing at The Public Trust on Wednesday, October 12, 7 to 9 pm (exhibition through October 22). The day before, McGinness speaks at The Modern, Fort Worth, 7 pm (tickets themodern.org). Note: special collecting opp — acquire the artist-signed offset print to accompany the show, a collect- ible multiple for a mere $30 (order trust thepublic.com). Meanwhile, next-door neighbor, Liliana Bloch Gallery debuts a new public-art project, Urbano — the first installment, Loss, by hermetic Dal- las talent Pierre Krause. Paired with Krause is UNT faculty member Kathy Lovas, a photographer who focuses on digital glitchés, images addressing dis- solving reality (through October 8). Hey, Hey for Heyd: Nude paintings populate Conduit Gallery, as Heyd Fontenot continues with his series depicting the unashamed naked body of friends and family (October 22 – November 26). In "Kult Klassic," Font- enot adds an unfolding film project with a nod to exploitations flicks and counter culture, as well as elements from domes- tic art, design obsessions, and more. On view concurrently, Ludwig Schwarz shows his latest canvases, amply sized paintings imbued with his own skewed semi-abstract narrative. Auction Drama: Fall is prime auction time, with escalating modern and con- temporary lots among the most eagerly watched fare on the block. Two Dal- las-founded auction entities are in the game, beginning in October. At Heri- tage Auctions, department head Frank Hettig has organized an array of mul- tiples and graphics for every collecting budget, Tuesday, October 25. Warhols and Picassos aplenty, a masterful Diebenkorn woodblock, a Hockney lithograph, and some Pop-inflected Ol- denburg sculptural multiples are among the linuep (ha.com). At Dallas Auction Gallery, the collection of Sam Wyly continues Wednesday, October 5. Attract- ing notice among the 90-some lots are the works of two American masters: a canvas by Thomas Hart Benton, and a pair of N.C. Wyeth (father of Andrew) paintings (dallasauctiongallery.com). String Theory: Fresh from an impressive turn at the reimagined Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, installa- tionist Gabriel Dawe creates a site- specific string sculpture for the Amon C a r t e r Museum of Amer- ican Art. Plexus no. 34, among Dawe's most am- bitions projects to date, evokes a diaphanous rainbow; the work is fashioned from 60 miles of multi-colored thread. The Mexi- can-born, Dallas-based artist's magnum opus will be on view in the Carter's atrium until September 2, 2018. In Our Sites: Joan Davidow and Seth Davidow's Site131's season opener presents a trio of talents who mine discarded objects — California art- ist Robert Larson, joined by Texans Benjamin Terry and Longhui Zhang. The resulting works — alternately reductive, endearing, and haunting— comprise the aptly titled "Found" (through December 18). Partake of more arts online, papercitymag.com.
