94 Hudson has been busy. Last year, she purchased the former Ellouise Abbott showrooms in Dallas and Houston, along with Houston's legendary Wells Design firm, and recently merged Ellouise Abbott and Wells Design into Wells Abbott. Hudson kept a handful of highlights from the Ellouise Abbott showrooms, including exquisite Fortuny fabrics and lighting, which Abbott brought to Texas decades ago. Wells Abbott stocks artisan works previously unavailable in Texas, such as New York-based plaster artist Stephen Antonson's dreamy plaster tables, lighting, and accessories. There are Vermilion hand-stitched needlepoint rugs from Brazil and handmade brass lighting designs from Ann-Morris in New York, which is famous for its antique reproductions and lighted pot racks. In Dallas, look for striking contemporary Retorra custom rugs hand-woven in Nepal and India, designed by Houston-based Ryan Reitmeyer (in Houston the rugs are carried in Reitmeyer's Retorra showroom). Furniture collections include O.Henry House and Alfonso Marina. "We are always recruiting exciting new lines and forming new partnerships," Hudson says. "The showroom is never quite done."
