W e've been sourcing French limestone — and a lot of laughs — from Alisanne F r e w a n d h e r s h o p Alisanne Wonderland at The Compound for years. She imports not only hand-quarried blocks of limestone, but also antique furniture — she recently scored several tables from the Ritz Hotel Paris that unfortunately didn't make the fall show's containers (keep an eye out in spring). Due to her overwhelming success in Round Top, she is now opening a second venue: Alisanne Wonderland's French Stoneyard at The Boneyard. The Boneyard is a new venue created by Mark Bowe of DIY Network's Barnwood Builders and local entrepreneur David Snell, located on Highway 237 next to The Arbors. Numerous vendors will show antiques and other goods in tents and permanent structures, with one of Bowe's trademark timber-frame barns in the middle stocked with his inventory of reclaimed beams and barn wood. Frew tells us, "I have 80,000 pounds of material arriving on several containers — from garden decor and architectural pieces to fountain spouts from the 1800s." Anne Lee Phillips H u s b a n d - a n d - w i f e duo Helen and Sean McLaren travel the world in search of unusual antiques, architectural pieces, and accessories, then bring it all back to McLaren's Antiques & Interiors. A La Carte Events and Catering out of Houston will serve up English-inspired treats from noon to 3 pm and tea time from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, in the air-conditioned London Bus Café; no reservations necessary. High tea includes a prosecco option with scones and clotted cream. Also new this year is late-night shopping with live entertainment Wednesday, October 3, 4 to 8 pm. Anne Lee Phillips HIGH TEA IN RT ALISANNE'S WONDERLAND EXPANDS 112 H enkel Square, developed by Round Top impresario Mark Massey, moves into its 2.0 version with the arrival of two well- regarded Houston newcomers. Major excitement swirls around the landing of Lee Ellis, whose wife, Melissa Savarino Ellis, is the proprietor of the thriving Rummel Square boutique Tutu & Lilli. Lee Ellis gives his name and vision to the retail spot Ellis Motel, which is expected to unveil after the antiques show winds down. The setting is the 1840 Muckleroy House, and Ellis says his new venture will be a "lifestyle store with a bar, an apothecary, retail for men's and women's ware, and stuff for your house, so you can put on a dinner party … It's been a long- time dream. And Melissa will have a hand in it." Lee plans to carry unique brands such as Denver-based Rockmount Ranch Wear (beloved by everyone from Ronald Reagan to Tom Petty and Elvis) and artisanal hat-maker Nick Fouquet … Relocating within Henkel Square are John and Eric Alexander's Dapper Deer, which moves to a new cabin to display their antique treasures, barware, and gentlemen's clothing and grooming products … Gift haven Silver Barn and HENKEL HAPPENINGS Nutmeg's children's shop now boast an expanded footprint, combining owner Cynthia Stolle's dual stores … Also expanding is the Humble Donkey and Lower 40, Laurie and John Lowery's Mecca for his country-inspired canvases alongside vintage finds and a surprising collection of mid-century furnishings, adding square footage to the historic Palmer Barn … Another new arrival is Norman T. Reynolds, who moves his law shingle from Houston to Henkel Square, where he will set up his practice in a historic hand-hewn log cabin — very Lincoln-esque. Reynolds relocated to Round Top with wife, Sally Reynolds, curator and author of a definitive volume on Houston artists; the couple are long- time patrons of Round Top Festival Institute.
