THE T he restaurant scene often centers on the newest and greatest. But some restaurants truly stand the test of time. These are Dallas' classic restaurants. Some, like Jimmy's Food Store, have been in the same family for generations. Others are footnotes to history. Jack Ruby ate at Campisi's Egyptian Lounge the night before President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Café Pacifi c (a rare spot that still maintains a strict dress code) is a special dining destination 40 years after it opened in Highland Park Village. This includes the 103-year- old Manson Home, a Hal Thomson gem that's been beautifully preserved by its owners, April and Jeffrey Manson. Then, there's 3429 Drexel Drive. Built in 1924 by Walter William Whitley, it fell into disrepair after years of neglect. But the Owsley family stepped in and completed a tasteful renovation of the treasure in 2019 that honored its original footprint.
