46 WHAT A KNOCKOUT! BY BILLY FONG AND LISA COLLINS SHADDOCK. PHOTOGRAPHY RICK KERN/GETTY IMAGES FOR UNICEF USA AND WJNPHOTO. L ike the entertainment awards season in L.A., it's been a spring of nonstop parties here in Dallas. And, at this year's UNICEF gala at the Ritz-Carlton Dallas, the city's most styl- ish showed up red-carpet ready and lit- erally gleaming: Metallic was the night's theme, and the ensembles delivered with rampant gold, silver, and platinum. Our statuette for best dressed was a tie between Georgina Hartland (in a custom blush Mary Katrantzou gown with custom jewels by Dallas' Queen of Diamonds, Sue Gragg) and Diamond Mahone (who had her fi - ancée John Bailey on her arm and deliv- ered fashion for days with vintage topped by a bold Dries Van Noten coat). Other style stars spotted included this month's Bomb girl, Jennifer Karol, in a high-wattage Alex Perry sequined gown and thigh-high boots; Capera Ryan in Sally Lapointe and Valentino; Sterling McDavid in one of her own creations from Burnett New York, and Nini Nguyen, slaying it in black long sleeves and a long skirt with peeka- boo reveals. The gala honored UNICEF Germany ambassador Dirk Nowitzki and his beautiful wife, Jessica, with the Spirit of Compassion Award, and the evening — co- chaired by Moll Anderson and Jan Miller Rich, along with honorary chair Nancy C. Rogers — raised a record-breaking $1.5 million. In the sparkling crowd: UNICEF's USA CEO Caryl M. Stern, Zoe Bonnette, former Dallas mayor Mike Rawlings, Christen and Derek Wilson, Rajan Patel, Stacie McDavid, Shelle and Michael Sills, Nini Nguyen, Sabrina and Field Harrison, Suzanne and David Droese, Missy and Tim Peck, Lindsay Billingsley, Lisa Cooley, Catie Enrico, Joyce Goss, T iffany Cuban, Selwyn Rayzor, and Gowri Sharma. T he Aging Mind Foundation Gala at the Joule's Mosaic ballroom set a fund-raising record, adding $842,000 to the more than $2.5 million it has contributed to medical research on dementia and Alzheimer's. The evening's co- chairs, the effervescent Jo Marie Lilly and John Clutts, and honorary chairs Lynda and Chris Ludeman presented a touching video tribute to Cookie Owen, an Audrey Hepburn lookalike who was this year's hon- oree, along with her husband, Dan Owen. On the scene: AMF founder Laree Hulshoff, Ashley Tatum, Marena Gault, Stacy Nutkis, Cara Owens, Julie Tregoning, Barbara and Don Daseke, Nancy Shutt, Philip Henderson, Sterling May, Ann and Don Short, Kitty and Alex Singh, Barbara and Steve Durham, Jennifer and John Kiker, Jessica and Michael Craycraft, Leslie and Bradley Napper, and Tia Wynne.
