T he end of summer is always bittersweet — backyard barbecues are traded for back-to-school, lazy vacations are replaced by busy social calendars, and those long, hot days seem to get shorter by the minute. But, first things first: The PaperCity editorial and sales teams are excited to kick things off by bringing you one of our most robust September issues to date. And, as we send this first issue of fall to the printer, we look to the month ahead and the flurry of to-dos stealing our attention, from philanthropic events galore to Texas Design Week Dallas and Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas. Beginning Monday, September 20, we welcome to Dallas a top-tier roster of national interior-design talent for Texas Design Week Dallas. The week-long celebration is packed with salon talks, panel discussions, book signings, exhibitions, and cocktail parties held (safely and socially distanced) throughout the Dallas Design District. You'll want to make sure to add these five days of dates to your calendar, to see Ken Fulk, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Michael S. Smith, Celerie Kemble, Amanda Lindroth, Corey Damen Jenkins, Alexa Hampton, Robert Stilin, Douglas Friedman, Juan Montoya, Ashley Whittaker, Ted Flato of Lake|Flato, Christopher Rothko, de Gournay's Hannah Cecil Gurney, and Aldous Bertram, as well as local talents. See pages 94 through 122 for all the details. The week culminates with the PaperCity Design Awards Friday, September 24, at Virgin Hotels Dallas, with Alessandra Branca as master of ceremonies. For tickets and a full schedule, go to texasdesignweek.com. On Thursday, September 23, Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas opens to the public for a month-long run for the second year. We can't wait to see how national and local designers reimagine the classic Georgian home in old Preston Hollow. See page 130 to see which designers made the cut. Of course, we couldn't host any of the aforementioned events without our generous Texas Design Week Dallas sponsors and hosts, including (at press deadline) Dallas Design District, Dunhill Partners, New Orleans Auction Galleries, Monogram, Virgin Hotels Dallas, The Shade Store, OKA, Abitare 18, Wells Abbott Showroom, Garde, The Conservatory, Schumacher, Sherle Wagner International, Arsin Rug Gallery, Blue Print, Elegant Additions, Farrow & Ball, James Showroom, Jan Showers Showroom, Laura Lee Clark Showroom, Roche Bobois, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, and Floor & Décor. After we've had our fill of design, you can find us at this year's Chick Lit Luncheon benefiting Community Partners of Dallas and sponsored by PaperCity. We couldn't be more excited to gather with our favorite gal pals and see actor Goldie Hawn deliver what's sure to be a can't-miss keynote. Clearly, there's plenty to keep us busy all month long — and we can't wait to see you on the town. Here's to saying farewell to a fabulous summer and ushering in a gorgeous fall.
