T his month marks the opening of t h e K i p s B a y Decorator Show House Dallas, where Detroit- and New York City-based interior designer Corey Damen Jenkins has been tapped to design the formal dining room. This isn't his first show house invitation: At Kips Bay New York City 2019, Jenkins designed a lady's library, which was a smash hit. Jenkins' signature bold, polished aesthetic is intimately revealed in his new book, Design Remix: A New Spin on Traditional Rooms (Rizzoli); a fantastic lesson in how to incorporate vibrant color, embrace what he terms eclectic exuberance, and take a minimalist design approach while sticking with traditional elements. A member of the AD 100 and Elle Decor A-List, the very-dapper Jenkins has been featured in House Beautiful, Traditional Home, Vanity Fair, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. He's received multiple distinguished awards, including Fashion Group International's Night of Stars Award for Interior Design, New York School of Interior Design Larry Kravet Design Industry Leadership Award, and Traditional Home's New Trad Rising Star of Design Award. What you always use in a room. Powerful artwork and lighting that makes a statement. White paint color. Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore. Vintage design book that all design lovers must have in their library. Billy Baldwin Remembers. What you will never use in a room. Objects or artwork that are insensitive or offensive to people of various cultures, races, and backgrounds. Fall wall color. Applesauce Cake by PPG Paints remains a perennial favorite. Favorite candle scent. Birmanie Oud and Aventus by Creed are both divine. Movie with the best interiors. Nicholas & Alexandra is an undiscovered gem. What you can't wait to see in Dallas. I'm really looking forward to seeing people's faces — fingers crossed! Corey Damen Jenkins and Alexa Hampton will speak and sign books at Sherle Wagner showroom, Monday, September 20, noon to 2 pm, as part of Texas Design Week Dallas. TXDW is a ticketed event; for tickets and complete schedule go to texasdesignweek.com.
