A s summer w i n d s down, I'm appreciative o f a f e w months that m i g h t ' v e been hotter than Hades but were at least better than 2020. I've had a few epiphanies: I embrace loving yacht rock (thank you, Katherine Reeves and Anne Clayton Vroom, for luring me out one evening for frozen cocktails and some Christopher Cross hits); chances are slim that I'll take up archery before year's end (see New Year's resolution #3 from my December 2019 Letter); and I'm going to commit to attending every event whose invitation lands in my mail. No FOMO for me this fall. Before you, you'll find an issue brimming with stories on art and interiors. In fact, as we gear up for another fabulous Texas Design Week Dallas, you'll be able to read up on many of the designers making their way from around the globe to our city the week of September 20-24. Lose yourself in our fashion pages highlighting the fall creations from Dior. You'll find models lounging in and around architect Javier Senosiain's iconic Casa Orgánica in Mexico City. An outstanding example of organic architecture, the home's sensuous curvilinear forms meld seamlessly with a verdant landscape. This setting seemed perfect to spotlight the venerable French label's latest collection, given Monsieur Dior's prophetic words: "A dress is a piece of ephemeral architecture, designed to enhance the proportions of the female body." This is one of our weightiest issues to date, likely on par with the Gstaad phone book (actually, if you have one of those, please share with me). I hope you take as much pleasure in discovering what's inside as we did in creating it.
