STRANGE BREW IT'S HEDI'S WORLD. WE JUST LIVE IN IT. COSMIC CRUISER The Celine Homme Summer 2022 show is not to be missed. British- American beats producer Isadora "Izzy" Camina created a pulse-racing soundtrack for the visual masterpiece by creative director Hedi Slimane (which I now have on repeat). Set in the South of France, the show begins with a gang of boys wearing leather vests and shielded helmets, astride motocross bikes bearing the house's name. The visuals by Slimane highlight his photography background. Do we have your attention? Trust us, it's hot. Kicking up dirt all the way to the massive runway, complete with jump ramps, shirtless bikers thrill us with their gymnastics just as the models begin to appear. Though such a massive stage, each model marches out, one at a time, with determination. All have their hands in pockets. They aren't trying to fit in; they are looking for freedom. The looks stay true-blue to Slimane's punk romance esthetic. The collection gives us oversized bombers with tailored skinny pants, silver sequined blazers with stark white boots. Joining the usual slim Slimane cast are models with wide-legged jeans, studded stoned and slouchy leather jackets — some black, some snakeskin — and even an oversized pup-printed cardigan from the '90s, surely influenced by the time Slimane spent in L.A. Slimane's love for art is not just personal. He's sharing with the world 14 artists he collaborated with in his Cosmic Cruiser collection. You must visit Celine's Insta and immerse yourself into the world of the artist in this collaboration. Also, sink into the stunning photos taken by Slimane. He captures details in the sequined palm trees, giant denim vest, mirrored sunglasses, decorative lapels, and a harness gripping a tatted torso. Artist Anna Hofmann left her mark on one of the denim vests with a message that reads: "So happy to be part of the show." Slimane is not only a successful photographer and fashion designer; he understands how to present a culture that we all gravitate towards. Give us more. Doug Voisin TABOU T he Celine Tabou is one of Hedi Slimane's latest creations that features prominently in Celine's Winter 2021 runway show. Made of calfskin leather and fully lined with lambskin, it has a relaxed silhouette with an adjustable crossbody or shoulder strap and a decorative gold lock to go with the snap close. Straightforward in design, the Tabou is an easy-to-use everyday bag that isn't fussy and can be dressed up for the right moments. Medium Tabou bag $2,550, at celine. com; coming to the Celine boutique later this year. Steven Hempel C eline artistic director Hedi Slimane continues to surprise. While collaborations are nothing new, Slimane constantly pushes boundaries and defines what "cool" is. For Winter 2021, he collaborated with L.A. artist Cambria Guevara, aka Mermaid Hex, who characterizes her work as "wearable weirdness" focused on the feminine body and psychedelic drawings mixed with text. The pair created a collection of jackets, caps, and accessories based on the artist's 2017 work Strange. Indeed. Check it out at Celine. com or on the artist's I n s t a g r a m p a g e .
