T his quote from one of my favorite books of all time, J.D. Salinger's Franny and Zooey, seems to sum up my #currentmood: "I've never felt so fantastically rocky in my entire life." When I first read that line in high school, I was perplexed and found it troubling. Now that I'm older… not so much. Hopefully you'll be able to relate and understand that it's potentially an intriguing and invigorating state of mind. Dallas is in the throes of one of its largest social seasons, which I affectionately refer to as "wash, rinse, repeat," loaded with luncheons, trunk shows, gala fundraisers … But perhaps my favorite is a private gathering (for no reason whatsoever) at a close girlfriend's Highland Park home, where we regroup and dish about all we've been doing, seeing, and, most importantly, wearing. Perhaps the marquee headliner of the glorious issue in front of you is Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas. Even with its abbreviated schedule, it did not disappoint. We've laid out more than a dozen pages of room after room that were on view, designed by a group of renowned visionaries. And, of course, you'll also read about the myriad parties, including the inaugural Kips Bay Dallas President's Dinner that fêted the annual design extravaganza. Also in this issue, you'll find the fascinating story that my colleague, Rebecca Sherman, has written on our beloved Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. This grand dame has a new owner, Vipin Nambiar of HN Capital Partners, and the two had a long and fascinating conversation that you'll find on page 36. And, finally, you'll get lost in a fit of fantasy as you drool over our jewelry spread — just in time for the holidays and your Christmas wish list. You might consider leaving those pages open so your partner gets an idea of something to gift you. As much as I adore writing these letters to you each month, alas, I don't have much time today, as I need to rush to dress for yet another swellegant affair. My go-tos of late? Well, I scored a vintage (call me Mr. Sustainable) '90s black Vuitton double-breasted blazer (if you know me, you'll understand it's always paired with black shorts) that I now will accessorize with a gold Schiaparelli necklace with my initial. It was gifted to me at a recent luncheon to celebrate the launch of the hallowed luxury-brands installation at Neiman Marcus downtown. Check it out tout suite, as I'm sure you'll find a chic frock or whimsical jewel to wear for the slate of events through the end of 2022 — a year that will go down as a fantastically rocky marathon of elegant affairs. Your confidante, Billy Fong Dallas Editor Letter from the Editor 30
