1900s through his death in 1959; his work often depicted scenes of life in the vibrant city of the 1920s, so it's fitting that Berlin finally has a space devoted to him. daskleinegroszmuseum.berlin. Neue Nationalgalerie: This austere and dramatic building is a sight to behold. Designed by iconic Bauhaus architect Mies van der Rohe, it's a striking example of his sleek, modern style. smb.museum. The Boros Collection: Two Dallas art collector friends recommended this as a must-do for my visit to Berlin. But secure your tickets early, as this private collection is generally booked solid for weeks in advance, with no walk-in traffic. Charlottenburg Palace: This magnificent building — the largest palace in Berlin — is surrounded by a baroque-style garden and is a great place to explore the history of Brandenburg-Prussia. Two permanent exhibitions display hundreds of treasures from the Hohenzollern silver chamber and examine the centuries-long reign of the Hohenzollern dynasty. The palace also has the largest collection of 18th-century French paintings outside of France. spsg.de. Helmut Newton Foundation: Hopefully the name alone will tempt you to visit. There's companionship if you want it; there's a book club if you want it; there's art if you want it; there's always food if you want it; and there's always a cocktail if you want it. It's like living in a hotel, so it's kind of a vacation just to live here. Why wouldn't I tell someone? I am thrilled to be here. And I would tell them to please come; it's just a fabulous place, and you'll meet wonderful people." I hope that you consider a new way of living and join us at The Tradition.
