I'm always amazed at the amount of care that The Crystal Charity Ball Committee takes in finding the most deserving of the myriad of groups in our community. I love that CCB supports one of the causes dearest to my heart … precious children. BEST MISTAKE YOU EVER MADE. What I thought would surely be a mistake 13 years ago was accepting an invitation for a blind date. I hated blind dates. But as it turned out, it wasn't a mistake at all. I met my husband of 12 years. THREE FAMOUS PEOPLE YOU WOULD INVITE TO THE LUNCHEON? I would choose my great-grandparents, W.L. Moody Jr. and Libby Rice Shearn Moody — first, because I would love to meet them, and second, to show them how much their generosity has accomplished. My favorite memory of volunteering for The Crystal Charity Ball happened during my first year of service, about 20 years ago. I was assigned to partner with darling Linda Bomar to research an organization in West Dallas headed by Arrvel Wilson. That organization was the genesis of West Dallas Community School and Center. It's humbling and thrilling to think that CCB played a small role in helping Arrvel launch his very big dream, by providing the first large grant to this ongoing success story. MOST MEMORABLE CCB LUNCHEON AND FASHION SHOW? The first Oscar de la Renta show. At the cocktail party the evening before, Oscar was the quintessential gentleman and such an elegant conversationalist — my husband and I were sorry when the evening ended. And, of course, the next day was a visual feast of colors, fabrics, details … I don't know of a woman who does not feel her feminine best when wearing this American artistry. So it feels a bit poetic for me to come full circle and participate in this year's style show. I am forever a fan!
