70 ART + DECORATION L eave it to Jonathan Adler to take the roller-shade and kick it up a notch. Adler, known for his cheeky pottery and retro- chic furniture, debuts his collection for The Shade Store with six boldly graphic designs, from Freida Kahlo- inspired daisies to 1950s Italian mod. The custom shades come in blackout or light-diffusing versions, in a veritable roller rink of colors, including clementine and turmeric. Price UPOn request, at The Shade Store, Decorative Center Houston, 5120 Woodway Dr., Suite 1070, theshadestore.com. Rebecca Sherman Roller DERBY Between YOU, ME and the WALL N otoriety ensued for fashion's Jean Paul Gaultier after his sexually charged bondage- inspired runway shows in the '80s (see Madonna's cone bra). But the majority of his haute couture and prêt-à-porter collections are stunningly beautiful with exquisite detail and tailoring, as is his first wallpaper collection for Lelievre: Les Papiers for Jean Paul Gaultier. The collection includes 15 patterns, including several Gaultier classic prints, in 42 colors, produced by European manufacturers using the latest printing technology. In Gaultier's irreverent world of wall coverings, graffiti A ustin native Palmer Early is just one of those nomadic creative souls. For years, he could be found skateboarding the streets of New York and London or surfing the Pacific waves in L.A. between stints of writing, film and television, and music. In 2013, he and his wife moved to Ho Chi Minh City, where he founded Nellcote Studio, a lighting design workshop. Nellcote Studio has produced private-label lighting for Restoration Hardware, Anthropologie, Harrods and ABC Home (via Sonder Living). "It's EARLY ON all about quality and originality," Early says. Each fixture is handmade, and inspiration from organic materials (such as a luxe twist on the classic capiz-shell chandelier) and architectural symmetry are conveyed in desk lamps, sconces, pendants, and chandeliers in brass, marble, and Lucite. Early and his wife have recently moved back to Austin but frequently return to Vietnam to oversee production. Now, Austin-based Bravo Interior Design lighting is the first to carry the full Nellcote Studios collection in Texas. $150 to $6,400, at Bravo Interior Design, 3708 Spicewood Springs Road, Austin, 512.372.0700.
