L ynn Wyatt, a fi xture in the international fashion fi rmament, was the fi rst to suggest that Houston replicate in some form the Oscar de la Renta retro- spective that had drawn more than 250,000 visitors to San Francisco's de Young museum in 2016. She nudged Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's director Gary Tinterow — whose curatorial position at the Metropolitan Museum of Art was endowed by the designer's widow, Annette de la Renta, 25 years ago — to take in the show. He did, and Houston's salute to the iconic designer was born.
