Y ou don't have to jet to Indio, California to partake in festival life: The creative minds at the Nasher Sculpture Center have styled The Great Create as Coachella for mini-me's. During the annual family- friendly Sunday fun-day, children in floral crowns and smocks, paintbrushes in hand, frolicked in the Nasher's art-filled garden, while parents raised money for the museum's educational programs. Chairs Flauren and Jason Bender, Janelle and Alden Pinnell, and the couples' kids transformed the Nasher into the ultimate artistic playground. The Color Condition's Marianne Newsom and Sunny Sliger dangled pink, gold, and red streamers from the trees and provided funky paper- covered hats for photo ops. Tots tie-dyed handkerchiefs with artist Catherine MacMahon, while others posed for Polaroids snapped by photographer Allison V. Smith in her old-school photo booth. Travis La Mothe illustrated temporary tattoos of Rodins and Brancusis from the Nasher's collection, for which adults rushed the line, children out of the way. Artists Jeff Gibbons, Liz Trosper, Shamsy Roomiani, Charles Mayton, and Nic Mathis oversaw their own clever arts and crafts venues. PaperCity's station had tots collaging their own magazine cover with cutouts from these very pages. No doubt many a mommy and daddy became a cover star for the day. While sugar highs were worked off on a pint-sized dance floor, parents relaxed in beanbag chairs and munched on Live Love Pop, fresh-pressed sips from The Juice Bar, and Which Wich sandwiches (Which Wich owners Courtney and Jeff Sinelli chaired The Great Create in 2015).
