20 By Jane Rozelle. Photography Kelly Alexander. O h, those magical, milestone years in football history — 1992, 1993, and 1995 — when America's Team, the Dallas Cowboys, took home the most highly coveted "W" in the sport: the Super Bowl championship. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Boys' legendary wins, more than 85 former Cowboys players and coaches and a first-string team of guests huddled at Gilley's Dallas for an evening benefitting United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. The event was hosted by fan fave Troy Aikman, who had just announced his groundbreaking commitment of gifts totaling $1 million to United Way's Unite Forever campaign. A blue-carpet entrance, music from Southern rock band Prophets and Outlaws, the inimitable Voice of the Dallas Cowboys, Brad Sham, Cowboys' owner and newly inducted member of the NFL Hall of Fame Jerry Jones, and former Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson, made for a touchdown night. The confluence was a flashback to good times in the '90s for former coach Barry Switzer, NFL Hall of Famers Roger Staubach, Tony Dorsett, Charles Haley, Michael Irvin, Daryl Johnston, Nate Newton, and Emmitt Smith. After a rehash of the team's rich Super Bowl history of fabled passes and TDs that secured the Ring, Dwight Yoakam appeared in the final moments to end the night. It doesn't get any better than this!
