OBSESSIONS. DECORATION. SALIENT FACTS. A n icon from the '80s has r o a r e d back onto the scene — Cartier has reintroduced the Panthère de Cartier women's watch. First intro- duced in 1983, the Panthère timepiece was emblematic of that opulent decade, embraced by celebri- ties and tastemakers alike, and remained in production un- til the early 2000s. Cartier describes the celebrated reissue of the Pan- thère watch as "jewelry first, watch second." While Cartier watches are known for its unisex appeal, this one is solely for the ladies, available in two sizes (22mm and 27mm) — a wel- come respite in the era of the oversized women's watch — and in nine met- als and finishes. With a square face, eight-screw bezel, and linked brick- lay bracelet with concealed clasp, the watch is bold, free-spirited, and feminine — slinking on the wrist in a decidedly feline nature. High jewelry offerings go bolder and more literally explore the spotted panther motif in two limited numbered editions (50 of the small and 30 of the medium model) in pink gold and black lac- quer. From $4,000, at the Cartier boutique. Anne Lee Phillips The FELINE'S TIME C alling all designers, decorators, architects, landscape designers, and furniture and product makers. PaperCity DESIGN AWARDS and Announcing TEXAS DESIGN WEEK A llison Hoeltzel first traveled to Italy as an SMU student, for a three-month internship at the Bologna opera house. She never left, marrying her husband Marco and launching a luxury handbag collection. Hoeltzel's label, Officina del Poggio, takes inspiration from traditional satchels, equestrian gear, and Marco's vintage motorcycle bags. "He rides an HP2 Enduro on dirt paths around our home," Hoetzel says. With classic shapes and minimalist hardware, ODP's supple leather bags of full-grain tumbled bull hide and natural vacchetta are individually sewn with thick-gauge thread. Hoeltzel looked to French artist George Barbier's illustrations while designing her fall collection. "I love the contrast of black, pale blues, yellows, and bright reds," she says. On Thursday, August 24, Hoeltzel returns to Texas for a personal appearance and trunk show at Stanley Korshak. Officina del Poggio, at Stanley Korshak, stanleykorshak.com; officinadelpoggio.com.
