31 CROWNS & JEWELS AT YLANG 23'S LUNCHEON By Christina Geyer. Photography Bruno. T his is my most beautiful luncheon to date," said Ylang 23 co-owner Joanne Teichman of the pink-on- pink scene she staged inside the Joule hotel's glass-box Terrace. "And it's all for 20 years of friendship," referring to her long- time relationship with L.A. jewelry designer Cathy Waterman — one that far exceeds their business ties. To celebrate, Joanne, along with daughter Alysa Teichman and husband Charles Teichman, invited Waterman to town for an intimate luncheon and trunk show. "When I first met Cathy, I was immediately smitten," Joanne said. "I thought this is my jam. This is heaven. This is beauty." Charles, always the charming gent at these ladies luncheons, was quick to chime in: "I think it took you longer to get smitten with me." The perfectly edited guest list of Ylang 23 friends included Gina Halliburton, Joyce Goss, Karla McKinley, Piper Wyatt, Leigh Rinearson, and Lisa Rocchio. Rosé flowed, making for a rather buzzy afternoon. Once guests took their seats, Joanne instructed, "Everyone don your flower crowns!" Smiles and selfies ensued — and those crowns stayed atop every head until luncheon's end. But the real showstopper accessories were the precious gems by Waterman. One particularly beautiful bauble was on the ring finger of Waterman's daughter, Claire Winter Kislinger: a stunning engagement ring that Waterman designed using her mother's heir- loom emerald. "My fiancé proposed with a band," Kislinger said. "He knew better than to have anyone but my mom design the ring." She and Alysa, dear friends since their mothers bonded two decades ago, were seated next to each other. A sweet moment came when Joanne gave a proverbial "high-five to the next generation" — and with a loving wink and smile, made it quite clear that the two young women would carry on the glittering legacy of family bonds and baubles.
