6 johndaugherty.com At Sesquicentennial Park, Seven Wonders by Mel Chin (1998) is comprised of seven 70-foot-tall pillars. In keeping with the park's concept, schoolchildren born in 1986, Houston's sesquicentennial year, were asked to submit drawings depicting one of the seven themes: agriculture, energy, manufacturing, medicine, philanthropy, technology and transportation. Each drawing was converted into a computer image, which was then cut into stainless steel. Portrait of Houston: It Wasn't a Dream, It Was a Flood by John Runnels. There are 10 more canoe sculpures at different entrances along Buffalo Bayou.
