Every October, Saks Fifth Avenue holds a weekend-long shopping benefit to aid the fight against women's cancer. To date, $40 million has been raised. This year, Saks joins forces with Stand Up to Cancer and the Entertainment Industry Foundation for the 2016 Key To The Cure campaign. The event kicks off Wednesday, Oc- tober 26, at Saks Fifth Avenue's new Galleria flagship, with a cocktail party fashion, makeup demonstrations, and live entertainment. Chairs Jo Lynn Falgout and daughters Christine Falgout and Kimberly Falgout, preside over the lively soirée, which benefits Breast Care Centers at Memorial Hermann. PaperCity again steps up as media sponsor for the kickoff and the entire weekend. Thursday through Sunday, October 27 through 30, show your sup- port and shop for the cause while raising funds for cancer research and treatment. Acad- emy Award-winning actress Halle Berry serves as cam- paign ambassador, wearing the limited edition T-shirt by iconic shoe designer Chris- tian Louboutin. The tee is available exclusively in-store and online this month, when all proceeds from the $35 tee go directly to the cause. Kickoff event tickets $75 in advance; $100 at the door. Hannah Swiggard Frenetic Six: At Meredith Long & Company, Brian Portman, Glassell teacher and early Core Fellow, solos with tensile abstract canvases fraught with energy (opening Thursday, October 27) … New York installationist Jonathan Schipper takes over Rice Gallery with a kinetic, slow-mo collapsing room that involves an office cubicle and string (October 6 – December 4) … Houston painter/sculptor Joe Mancuso mines magic from concrete and other prosaic materials, invigorating images as simple as blossoms (at Barbara Davis Gallery, October 14 – November 12) … At Art Palace, the wry, clumsy paintings/sculptures of Nathan Green (not to be confused with religious painter Nathan Greene) are a very good bet. Kevin Todora also makes his Art Palace debut; the Dallas-based talent's new-method photography has its own idiosyncratic, semi-abstract language and color palette (both shows through October 22) … Argentine artist Pablo Siquier returns to Sicardi Gallery to solo with intri- cate, architectural-inspired canvases pairing precision and power (through November 3). Nothing is constant but change: Mexico City gallerist Enrique Guer- rero unveils Guerrero Projects in the 4411 Montrose Gallery Building, in the space formerly occupied by Unix Gallery. Guerrero arrives fresh from exhibiting in the Texas Contempo- rary Art Fair in "The Other Mexico" (through October 2). Guerrero's inaugural Houston exhibition Friday, October 14 (through November 12), presents the core of its stable, including Miguel Ángel Madrigal, of the miniature interiors, who stole the show at his debut at the 2015 Texas Contemporary Fair.
