MOORES SCHOOL OF MUSIC GALA C hairs Tom Becker and Jim Rosenfeld dreamed up a fantasy Vegas '60s event, "Barbara and Frank, The Concert That Never Was," for The University of Houston's Moores School of Music 29th annual gala at Wortham Theater Center. HOUSTON GRAND OPERA: CAROUSEL A carnival-themed Houston Grand Opera Ball paid tribute to HGO's production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel. Jackson and Company devised the lavish dinner, and an after-party with a curfew past midnight kept the night moving. SPA'S SHIMMERING SANDS Society for the Performing Arts gala chairs Katherine and Paul Murphy and Sharon and Tim Taylor took 400 guests on a magic carpet ride at Shimmering Sands: A Night At The Oasis. At The Corinthian, Moroccan chandeliers granted just enough light for guests to dine elegantly, while electric entertain- ment by Moodafaruka and Skyrocket kept the night lively.
