Letter from the Editor I t's that time of year, and you're probably feeling like me — trying to look presentable even though you're going from coffee klatch to charity luncheon to afternoon trunk show to cocktail party. Imagine my bewilderment when someone shares that they can fit tennis and carpool pickup into that mix. I'm defaulting to a tried-and-true playbook of things to do mid-social season to make it to the finish line: 1. Shop your closet. Hopefully you'll find some divine frock tucked away that hasn't seen the light of day in years. Pop into one of the new boutiques that's recently opened (such as Balmain in Highland Park Village) to find a piece that adds new life to an outfit. Voilà! Soon you'll be on the receiving end of a compliment: I adore that military- style jacket over your floral sheath. 2. Score a new playlist. My dear friend Rochelle Gores recently sent me her wonderful mash-up of coastal rap classics she created for a mutual girlfriend's birthday party. It now puts me in the mood for a day crammed with appointments (Ice Cube's "It Was a Good Day" can set a #mood). 3. Go to an exhibition or even the Texas State Fair (we hear they're adding deep-fried pho to their culinary offerings this year) so that you have au courant tidbits to sprinkle into your cocktail conversation. Perish the thought of falling back to verboten topics like politics or religion and risk getting the side-eye from one of Dallas' grande dames. Dreaded divine retribution may come in the form of being omitted from the guest list. Hopefully I'll see you soon. You'll find me at most of the parties I've shared in my Buzz column on page 44 and all the events at the highly anticipated incarnation of this year's Texas Design Week Dallas. Gather your pussy-bowed posse and head to all that's on the itinerary, from breakfast to cocktails — salon-style book talks and panels with rajah-like personalities sharing divine design tips.
