TEXAS DESIGN WEEK DALLAS IS A TICKETED EVENT. TO PURCHASE TICKETS, AND FOR COMPLETE SCHEDULE, GO TO TEXASDESIGNWEEK.COM. "Early in our careers we realized that details can speak, they can scream, or they can whisper. But it's not just the details. Every aspect, every facet of a space affects all the others because design is a matter of relationships." — Carrier and Company Influenced by Design: Vicente Wolf Stealth Luxury: Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller, Carrier and Company Interiors I t's no surprise that legendary decorator Vicente Wolf has been called one of the 10 most influential designers in the U.S. by House Beautiful. The New York-based designer has been making his mark on the industry for almost 45 years and has left his distinctive aesthetic on everything from multinational conglomerates to private homes, hotels, and products. Wolf's newest book, Creative Interior Solutions (Rizzoli), is rife with practical design recommendations based on his expertise, illustrated with photographs taken by the designer himself. The book also dives into the story behind Wolf's own loft in New York, the city where his company, Vicente Wolf Associates Inc., is headquartered. J esse Carrier and Mara Miller, principals of Carrier and Company Interiors, are more than just designers — they are also practicalists. Their second book, Defining Chic: Carrier and Company Interiors (Rizzoli), encapsulates their skillful mix of glamour and livability. The husband- and-wife duo takes into account the personalities, dreams, and lifestyles of their clients (Anna Wintour and Jessica Chastain are two clients) to create truly individual projects. There is no formula, no one right way, no single best look; rather, the Carriers approach each project with an open mind, whether it be a Mediterranean-style home in Southern California or a lakeside retreat with glass expanses in Connecticut. CV: Wolf has been inducted into the Designer Hall of Fame by Interior Design Magazine, appeared repeatedly on Elle Decor's A-list and Architectural Digest's AD100, and has decorated rooms for multiple Kips Bay Decorator Show Houses. What, When, Where: Illustrated talk, book signing and afternoon cocktails with Vicente Wolf, Monday, October 30, 2 to 4 pm, at Laura Lee Clark, 1515 Slocum St. For tickets go to texasdesignweek.com. CV: The Carriers have been named in both Architectural Digest's AD100 and Elle Decor's A-List. What, When, Where: Morning mimosas and panel discussion with Carrier and Company, Sister Parish, McLaurin & Piercy, and Meredith and Hunter Ellis, moderated by Veranda's Steele Marcoux, Friday, November 3, 9:30 to 11:30 am, at James showroom, 1025 N. Stemmons Fwy., Suite 250. For tickets go to texasdesignweek.com. "I strive for contrast and friction in both my home and my work — old against new, rough against smooth, classic against cutting- edge. My keywords are balance rather than strict symmetry, and juxtaposition rather than uniformity." — Vicente Wolf VICENTE WOLF ANNIE SCHLECHTER The breakfast room of a 1920s Tudor house.
