The Making of a Classic Mind: Peter Pennoyer P eter Pennoyer brings his passion for scholarship, harmony, history, and beauty to his residences everywhere, both city and country. In Peter Pennoyer Architects: City/ Country (Vendome) — the firm's first monograph in more than 12 years — the book details 19 projects from the last decade designed in collaboration with some of the world's top designers — Redd Kaihoi, Steven Gambrel, Jacque Grange, Victoria Hagan, Robert Stilin, landscape designer Miranda Brooks, and his wife Kate Ridder. Present work includes a home for the Jeff Koons family. The book is divided into two sections: City and Country. The former explores residences that combine historical elements with urban life, while the Country section emphasizes estates and coastal homes. Regardless of locale, the projects showcased confirm why the firm has been a beacon of classically inspired residential architecture for more than three decades. CV: Pennoyer is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects, a member of Architectural Digest's AD100 and has co-authored five books on 20th-century American architects, as well as books covering his own work. What, When, Where: Illustrated talk, book signing, and afternoon cocktails with Peter Pennoyer Monday, October 30, 4:30 to 6:30 pm, at Sherle Wagner International, 1025 Slocum St. For tickets go to texasdesignweek.com. "In our studio, we eschew potted history, instead we passionately scrutinize our sources and ideas to shape architecture that lasts." — Peter Pennoyer An enfilade of arches connects the entry hall and stair hall in an Arts and Crafts-style home in Ohio.
