Her father was legendary designer Mark Hampton, and her mother is the irrepressibly stylish Duane Hampton. She began working in her late father's office as a teenager and throughout her childhood traveled with her academically oriented parents through museums and galleries around the world. She ultimately developed a genuine love for design, and her newest book, Alexa Hampton: Design, Style, and Influence (Clarkson Potter), is a billet-doux to the profession and to her own pre-war apartment on 59th Street in Manhattan, her forever home. She takes us through a personal history of the countless redecorations and updates in the space, as well as the objects, art, and textiles that invigorate it. Hampton's iconic style is a testament to the art movements and famous tastemakers that have inspired her.
