24 HERE'S LOOKING at YOU BY CHRISTINA GEYER. PHOTOGRAPHY JONATHAN ZIZZO. W hen Dallas Art Fair founder John Sughrue took to the mic to address guests at Neiman Marcus Downtown for the fair's annual kickoff party, a hush fell over the crowd. "Let's talk about how we got here," he said, then listed off a lengthy roster of names long affiliated with the fair, especially the top brass at Neiman Marcus — one of the first major companies to support the fair during its inception. The air filled with pride and nostalgia, as most in attendance had watched Dallas Art Fair grow from a visionary idea to a glorious reality that has shaped our city, making it an undeniable hot spot on the international art scene and a must-attend on the global art fair circuit. For a decade, Neiman Marcus has kicked off the excitement with a private bash celebrating the artists, collectors, Dallas Art Fair patrons, and gallerists who make it all happen. This year, guests included NM's Chuck Steelman, Marjon Zabihi, and Dallas Art Fair VIPs Kelly Cornell and Brandon Kennedy; artist Joseph Havel, whose work was on display in NM's windows, in from Houston; and supporters Deborah Hunter, Kaleta Blaffer, Jennifer Klos, Richard Buferd, Karen and Michael Bivins, Marion Flores, Joyce Goss, Max Trowbridge, and Gail Cook.
