71 MAD ABOUT KIT KEMP GEORGE CAMERON NASH TEA'S UP D uring a recent jaunt to Dallas British designer Kit Kemp's celebrated her latest collaboration of embroidered fabrics for Chelsea Textiles at George Cameron Nash showroom. Nash laid out a very chic welcome for Kemp, who was in town for just barely 24 hours. Rather than host cocktails, the ever the brilliant host and his partner Mark Williams opted for high tea instead. Inside Nash's Dallas Design District showroom, a mad-hatter tea party unfolded. Lapel badges made from roughly snipped squares of Kit's darling embroidered fabrics were worn by all the top brass, from Nash to Chelsea Textile's owner Mona Perlhagan and design director Jenny Simpson. Kit signed copies of her books Every Room Tells a Story and A Living Space. The tea service itself was spot on: Williams set the table, crafting a magnificent vine-covered centerpiece aflutter with elegant butterflies and topped with a tipsy teapot — its spout nearly reaching to the ceiling. Chef Abraham Salum prepared endless amounts of petit fours, tea sandwiches, and scones and cream, all served atop Kit Kemp's collection for Wedgwood china, flown in especially for the occasion. It was a tea party fit for those absolutely mad about design.
