THE BREAKOUT STAR. Pageboy Brian Mulroney lit up the faces of the entire world when we saw his massive smile as the trumpets blared prior to HRH's start down the aisle. His uncontrollable excitement had to be channeling what the poised Ms. Markle must have felt inside. THE FLOWERS. OH, THE FLOWERS. Not only were there arches of beautiful fl owers for miles, but what was most striking was how Harry picked forget- me-nots — Princess Diana's favorite fl ower — from his own garden to include in Meghan's bouquet. Now, if that is not the true defi nition of Prince Charming, I don't know what is. THE STARS. It was predicted that we would see some Hollywood elite in attendance. Of course, the Suits entourage and the Beckhams were to be expected — but Oprah and the Clooneys, that is an entirely different level. THE VEIL. Long (16 feet, to be exact), lace, and on point with its inclusion of symbols representing the 53 Commonwealth nations, Meghan's veil gives us a hint as to the role these two megawatt stars of the Royal Family will play in the years to come! Can we say #brexit. THE FATHER. Despite all the chatter surrounding Meghan's father during the week of the wedding, in true royal fashion, all mouths shut at exactly the perfect moment to view this fi ercely independent woman escort herself down the majority of the aisle. She was then met by an adoring father-in-law, Prince Charles, who took her the remainder of the way. THE CHOIR. "Stand By Me." The Kingdom Choir belted an awe-inspiring rendition of one of the 20th century's most recorded songs. And with those three little words, a moment in royal history was marked, ushering in a more inclusive and accepting Royal Family, ready to face the 21st century with a new sense of purpose. THE MOTHER. Poised. Elegant. Graceful. All perfect words to describe Ms. Doria Ragland and her approach to attending the wedding of her daughter alone. The sole member of the bride's family handled the entire (and what must have been out-of-body) experience seated directly across from Her Majesty, The Queen, with such aplomb, we barely even saw her shed a tear. Protocol tip: The seat we all thought was reserved for Diana, Princess of Wales, next to William in the front row, was in fact left empty because royal protocol dictates that no one should be seated in front of the Queen in church. Was the Queen purposely seated on the second row to create this space for Diana? One will never know. And last but truly not least ... THE BISHOP. The British monarchy is nothing if not masterful at survival and adaptation. If you think for one moment that Bishop Michael Curry did not have approval to deliver the resounding, uplifting, and truly magical homily that spoke to the hearts of every person watching around the globe, you are mistaken. There are moments in time when institutions as stoic as this one have the opportunity to seize the day and shift direction, and instead of resisting with all of its might, we all were witness to the leaning in, the embracing of change, the moment the monarchy became modern. 28 ROYAL RECAP Le Bar The confetti has settled; the tiaras are back in the safe. Now that we know — or think we know — all the details surrounding the wedding of the decade, it's time for a quick recap of the top eight moments from Meghan and Harry's fairy-tale nuptials.
