32 GOLDEN AFTERNOONS PHOTOGRAPHY DANA DRIENSKY, DANIEL DRIENSKY MAD HATTER'S TEA "A GARDEN BY THE SEA" T he Mad Hatter's Tea benefitting the Women's Council of the Dallas Arboretum and A Woman's Garden is a spectacle like no other. This year it took on "A Garden By The Sea" theme —a natty high tea and fashion show chaired by Venise Stuart and Sandy Secor. There were big hats, little hats, hats with feathers and hats with flowers, even a hat with a live fish in a bowl. Jan Strimple produced a showing of the season's best looks from Tootsies. Winning top marks for extraordinary headwear: Kathy Cothrum, Julia Kanaan, Carmaleta Whiteley Felton, Kunthear Mam-Douglas, Carmen Hancock, and Debbie McKeever. Natalie Gempel THE SALVATION ARMY WOMEN'S AUXILIARY FASHION SHOW & LUNCHEON I f ever there's an opportunity to add a dash of vintage to your wardrobe, it's at The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary Fashion Show & Luncheon. Each year, the city's well-heeled ladies clear out their closets — making room for new styles — and donate gently used wares to the event's on-site boutique. Chanel, Gucci, Carolina Herrera, and a slew of other designers are all sold to benefit The Salvation Army. To celebrate the shopping tradition, chair Lisa Singleton tapped global fashion influencer Tina Craig to speak. Seen: Honorary chair Michal Powell, and VIPs Anne Davidson, Carol Seay, Lynn McBee, and Margot Perot. Christina Geyer ART IN BLOOM T here are few more apropos people to honor at Dallas Museum of Art's Art in Bloom Luncheon than The Flower Guy. The annual luncheon sold out quickly, with more than 350 snagging a ticket to hear from New York-based contemporary artist Michael De Feo. DMA League president Nancy Cates wel- comed De Feo to the stage, where he walked guests through his 25-year career, from creating a new brand of street art to his collabs with the fashion world. While he wouldn't give the exact location (likely for legal reasons), keep an eye out for De Feo's friendly little flower, unassumingly spray-painted somewhere in the city. Seen: chair Dyann Skelton; honor- ary chairs Barbara and Steve Durham; and guests Susan Scullin, Bitsy Carter, Jennifer Karol, Claire Dewar, and Becky Bright.
