TK Amis and Guillaume Garrigue May 2008 Dallas Photographers Guillaume Garrigue and Hickey-Robertson Architecture Bruce Goff Interior Design Amis and Guillaume Garrigue The architecturally significant Bruce-Goff-designed Round House (1957- 1962) is a trove of decorative tiles, walls fashioned from Frankoma Pottery, and 18K gold-dipped blocks, with circles punched out of stone walls, and sliding panels made of sparkly Higgins glass. The sunken conversation pit is dominated by a shimmering hammered-copper fireplace hood. Eames walnut stools are original to the house, and the sunburst carpeting is a recreation of Bruce Goff 's original design. John and Dominique de Menil September 2004 Houston Photographer Trai Giovan Architecture Philip Johnson Interior Design Charles James Restoration Stern and Bucek Architects Founders of the Menil Collection, John and Dominique de Menil, completed their International-style house — designed by Philip Johnson, with extraordinary interiors by couturier Charles James — in 1961. The house now belongs to The Menil Collection and retains its glorious furnishings and full complement of art. In Dominique de Menil's dressing room, Charles James applied a brushed-paint treatment to the wardrobe doors in an array of grayed pastels that has survived decades without repainting. The famous drinks closet has its original yellow felt door and harbors taxidermied birds and a collection of miniature works from artists ranging from Marc Chagall to Jean Hugo.
