For one week each fall, the city goes into a tizzy, with Partners Cards flashed at registers everywhere — and good luck trying to score a parking spot at NorthPark Center or Highland Park Village. FYI: Those who snag a $70 Partners Card (the full purchase price benefits The Family Place) get a 20 percent discount at 750-plus retailers. To celebrate its silver anniversary — and the more than $1 million raised since its inception — a party whirlwind was in order. Festivities began at Dallas Country Club, where Partners Card co-founder Sally Hoglund and board member Brenda West Cockerell held a luncheon for The Family Place top brass and 2017 chairs Brynn Bagot Allday and Jennifer Burns. Next came a kickoff at Highland Park Village — a private event atop the Village Theater. All the while, Burns and Bagot Allday had a surprise up their sleeves, which they announced during a cocktail soirée at Bungalow 5: the new Silver Card, a higher-profile Partners Card that grants entrée (and bigger discounts) at Silver Card-only retailers. Then it was off to a swarm of shopping parties, from IBB Design Fine Furnishings to Rebecca Taylor at NorthPark Center and Starpower in Southlake. The tireless do-gooders at The Family Place then jumped into 2018 plans, which they announced with champagne at DEC on Dragon. Here's what you need to know: Dates are October 26 through November 4; chairs are Leigh Danley, Tierney Kaufman Hutchin, and the first-ever male chairman Julian Leaver; and, yes, there will be no end to celebratory parties between now and then. We'll keep you posted on where to be at papercitymag.com. THE FAMILY PLACE TAKES SILVER.
