We are poised in an in-between moment when, like the Mannerists of the 16th century, attenuation and
exaggeration in image-making become a statement and style unto themselves. A more than subtle distortion in scale,
balance, and proportion alerts the viewer to pay aesthetic attention and signifies that cultural change is afoot.
